The aircraft is the Classic Junkers JU52/3m three-engined, corrugated metal-fuselage designed airplane far ahead for its time. The reason for the JU-tours was the aircraft's 70 years-celebrations. in advancement. The tour included visits to Stockholm-Bromma, Malmoe, Norrköping as well as Copenhagen, Denmark. The aircraft in question is JU52/3m D-AQUI (D-CDLH), operating first for Deutche Luft Hansa, and later in several countries including Norway (DNL) and South America |
can be clearly seen, as well as the forward (pilot) entrance door to the right(!) |
studied in this photo. Some simple flap arrangement can be seen on the trailing edges. |
"vintage" and more modern equipment, probably a necessity to get a valid operating certificate. The cabin is identical to the original layout, and the author can verify that the seats are very comfortable also for longer flight. |
and at the time very modern, flap (single slot) arrangement is shown in the second and third shot. This particular Junker left the factory in April 1936, about 2 month before Bromma Airport in Stockholm opened for commercial traffic. Thus two contemporary historical attractions meet this beautiful spring-day. |
sound of the radials probably brings back many memories to the older generation Tante JU magestically taxies out for her commemorative flight over Stockholm. Could it be better! |
stable as a steamship as she gently climbs away towards the beautiful downtown-Stockholm. |
archipelago. I have to say it looks like a very slow landing speed, probably credited to the very large wings. |
visiting Norrköping Airport and I'M one of the lucky guys that will take a ride on board this lady all the way to Copenhagen-Kastrup! A leasury 2 hr 30 min flight at approximately 1000 ft altitude. It MUST have been better in the old days! "Passing 100 ft climibing flight level 1.0" |
such an old aircraft. I feel completely confident in this machine, and during my cockpit visit a Route Viggen was passing in front of us at high speed! Fascinating. |
community in Copenhagen was probably there to document the landing. Alas I could not join them because I was on-board the airplane!!! Cleared to land on runway 22L for Tante JU52. |
there tickets signed by the captain as proof of participation. Now I have to leave this magnificent airplane and take the more conventional SAS Airbus A321 back home to Stockholm. Some contrast I must say. |
